The rookies are coming to Cowtown for the 2nd Cowboy Channel Rookie Roundup at the Fort Worth Stockyards.
Fort Worth has some fierce competition coming its way as the PRCA readies for the 2nd Cowboy Channel Rookie Roundup at the Cowtown Coliseum. Presented by Resistol, this year features a $100,000 purse to motivate the top 15 contenders from the Resistol Rookie Standings. From April 28-29, these young rodeo champs will be vying for the title of Resistol Rookie of the Year, a title that comes with a pretty penny in funding and the opportunity to strengthen their skill through competition.
"The Resistol Rookie of the Year is so important to us. The PRCA rookies are the future of our sport,” says Ricky Bolin, General Manager of Resistol Hats. “We are happy the Rookie Roundup was such a great success last year and we can move forward to making this an annual event. It is great that the format is designed to educate and elevate them as they begin their journey towards a professional career in rodeo.”
In addition to competing in their first professional rodeo, these young contestants are being given the mentorship opportunity of a lifetime. Getting mentorship and training from elite contestants and rodeo pros, as well as media training and interview opportunities, these young champs are being set up for a career that shines (almost) as bright as the prize buckle at the end of the line. Resistol, the event's sponsor and official hat of the PRCA, will be providing a celebratory luncheon for the Resistol Rookies, which will take place at South Point Hotel & Casino to honor each of the recipients.
The Resistol Rookies who prevail in the Roundup are in for a sweet treat courtesy of their sponsor. Resistol will be presenting the Rookies with a custom, personalized 30X Resistol felt hat, a fully tooled trophy Cactus Saddle, a Resistol branded Yeti Cooler, and a Resistol PRCA Rookie leather trophy jacket, among other awards — just one of the many reminders of the prestige and honor that is the Resistol Rookie of the Year award.
This riveting rodeo will be produced and broadcast by Fort Worth's own Cowboy Channel, who will be sweetening the deal with an evening performance beginning at 8:30 p.m. A series of roundtables with the contestants will also be produced by the Cowboy Channel, allowing the rookies to shine outside the arena.
"The inaugural Rookie Roundup last year was a tremendous success", says Patrick Gottsch."Shining a special light on all the rookies proved to give them all a lot of encouragement and momentum that needs to now be done every year. We are proud to partner with Resistol and our Rookie Roundup sponsors to support these PRCA stars of tomorrow as they learn the ropes to find out what it takes to get on down the road and become champions.”
Tickets for the event can be found on the Cowtown Coliseum website. Additional information is available on Western Sports Roundup as well as on PRCA and Cowboy Channel social media platforms.
