Win a copy of Northern Plains Native Americans: A Modern Wet Plate Perspective, a collection of Native American portraits by photographer Shane Balkowitsch.
In our February/March issue, we featured Shane Balkowitsch’s photo essay Shadow Catcher. The essay showcases his portraits of Native Americans using a 19th-century technique known as wet-plate collodion photography, a process developed in the Old West in 1851.
Balkowitsch then came up with the idea to compile 1,000 portraits in a series of published books, Northern Plains Native Americans: A Modern Wet Plate Perspective. We’re giving away a copy of the first book of the three-volume project. A portion of sales from the series will benefit the American Indian College Fund.
